Dora Mora Tutor Program

CHUN sponsors an elementary school tutoring program at Dora Moore Elementary school located at the cross streets of 9th Avenue and Corona Street in Capitol Hill. Coordinated by community member David Bost for many years, this program has been providing tutoring assistance to low-income, inner-city children since 1992, and it caters to students in the 2nd through 5th grades. Since its inception, the program has provided benefit to some 500 children - many of whom have gone on to excel in highschool and college.

Each Tuesday evening of the school year, our tutors provide an hour of one-on-one help in areas of reading, spelling, writing, and arithmetic. Because each tutor is assigned the same student for the term of one year, the program serves in part as a mentoring program - allowing children to bond with their tutors. In return, tutuors gain much from the program. By helping a child gain the skills and confindence needed succeed in school, our tutors are rewarded with pride and self-fulfillment through their contributions to this worthwhile community service. Should you be interested in helping a child advance both in academics and self esteem, please call David Bost at 303-399-4900, or you can reach him at dmbost@idcomm.com.
