Plans are already underway for the spectacular 40th Anniversary of the CHUN Capitol Hill People’s Fair! We are inviting all local artists to be part of the celebration and help us create our poster AND a new logo - to be used only for the milestone event. Applications have been sent out to local artists and art schools encouraging them to create an image for the Fair, which may be included on the People’s Fair poster, and various print materials and/or souvenirs. Again this year, we will accept images submitted digitally, as well as framed entries. We hope to encourage even more participation than we have seen in the past few years! All local artists are invited to participate, and should use the following criteria in designing their project:
IMAGE CONTEST
1. Image must be full-color, festive, original, and must be available digitally if selected
2. Image should be recognizable and reproducible in one color
3. Should be adaptable for possible poster production
4. Theme should incorporate some aspect of: community, celebration, urban, diversity, neighborhoods
5. The image must include the following text:
a. 40th Annual CHUN Capitol Hill People’s Fair
b. June 4 & 5, 2011
c. Civic Center Park, Denver, Colorado
d. Produced by Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods, Inc. (CHUN)
6. Image entry must be framed, and must be no smaller than 11”x17” and no larger than 18”x24”.
Framed images must have two hanging brackets attached, one for each vertical edge.
7. Image may be submitted in high resolution digital format in either JPG, TIF or PDF format. Digital
images should be sent to: andreafurness@chundenver.org with “Image Contest” in the subject line.
8. All images are due to the CHUN office at 1290 Williams St. by November 12, 2010 at 5:00pm.
LOGO CONTEST
1. Logo must be submitted in full-color and in black and white
2. Logo should be adaptable for multiple uses including print ads, press releases, poster, t-shirts, and
more
3. Logo should be fairly simple, however should express the creativity and uniqueness of the People’s
Fair
4. Logo should be submitted in the following formats: EPS, JPG, and TIF files (color and black and white)
5. Logo must include the event dates (June 4 & 5, 2011) and Capitol Hill People’s Fair
6. Logos should be sent to: andreafurness@chundenver.org with “Logo Contest” in the subject line
7. All logos are due by September 27, 2010.
“We are excited to begin the process of planning the 40th Annual People’s Fair,” said Executive Director, Roger Armstrong. “Through the Image Contest and the (new) Logo Contest we hope to encourage local artists to participate in the early stages of planning this annual community celebration.” The selected image and logo will be unveiled at the CHUN Annual Meeting in early January, 2011.
The 39th Annual CHUN Capitol Hill People’s Fair was presented by Miller Brewing Company and FOX 31 News. Associate Sponsors included Pepsi-Cola Bottling Group, The Denver Post, Comcast, Entercom Denver stations 99.5 The Mountain, KOSI 101, Studio 1430 AM and Alice 105.9, and Three Olives Vodka. The City and County of Denver was a Supporting Sponsor of the People’s Fair.
