CHUN Capitol Hill People's Fair
June 1 & 2, 2013

We have gotten many questions on how bands are chosen for the People's Fair each year. Please understand that we have worked very diligently over the last several years to make the process transparent and fair. Here is a run-down of how it works:
- We notify all bands in our database that applications are available in late October/early November (to be added to the database, call the CHUN office at 303.830.1651); we also make the application available online and our UMX Media Partners help promote our search for bands.
- We collect all applications and music, and hold a listening party with our entertainment committee – many of whom are very involved in the local music scene – listen to all bands who have not previously performed at the fair. The bands are scored, the scores are compiled, and the top-scoring new bands are asked to audition at our live auditions – the Ultimate Music Xperience (UMX). We invite media, those involved in local music, our previous People’s Fair bands and the general public to listen and score those bands (this year the UMX will be on March 23 and/or 24, location TBD).
- When the UMX scores are compiled, we take a look at the bands who have performed at the Fair and the top half (usually) from the live auditions and create the entertainment schedule from that.

If you've been in Capitol Hill you know the great diversity and originality of its buildings and residents. We feature the same kind of great diversity and originality in our entertainment. Whether it's poetry or dance, gospel or country, rock or blues, we've got it all. Through our application process the genre's are scored separately to assure a wide range of entertainment for the entire family. Comedy, Children's, Magical, Cultural, Solo, Musical Groups.. you name it; we've got it. Check out our UMX page and read more about the official People's Fair audition.
If you are in a band, or are a solo artist, or are in a dance or cultural group and would like to apply to perform at the 2013 People's Fair, please fill out our Online Application or call the CHUN office at 303-830-1651. **Please note this year all dance groups, buskers, drama groups, choir groups, singer/songwriters, bands, solo artist, etc. will fill out the same application, the new Entertainment and Performance Application.
